About Halden Tauri

Halden Tauri is the crown prince of Navarre and the older brother of Aaric Graycastle (Camlaen Tauri). As King Tauri’s heir, Halden represents the official line of succession and carries the political weight of Navarre’s monarchy on his shoulders. While Aaric joins the Riders Quadrant and rebels against their father’s passive stance, Halden remains aligned with the monarchy, operating largely within the boundaries of its sanctioned actions, though not without his own complications.

His presence creates a volatile dynamic, particularly when it comes to Violet Sorrengail, whom he has history with.

Physical Appearance

Halden is a classically handsome prince, striking features, high cheekbones, and a permanent, cocky smirk. He’s slightly shorter than Aaric and not quite as physically imposing, but he commands attention with charm and sharp wit. His summer-green eyes, the signature Tauri trait, are particularly captivating. He maintains a polished look, often seen in finely tailored blue military uniforms and sporting a recently styled haircut.

Personality & Motivations

Charismatic and sharply intelligent, Halden is a master of diplomacy and political games. He’s effortlessly flirtatious, teetering between endearing and infuriating, especially in his interactions with Violet. Though seemingly laid back, Halden hides deep-seated grief over his twin’s death and a complicated relationship with his role as heir.

Unlike Aaric, Halden isn’t directly rebelling against his father, but that doesn’t mean he’s without ambition. He’s willing to manipulate and maneuver if it aligns with Navarre’s survival or his personal agenda. Despite his princely charm, he shows signs of jealousy and control, especially where Violet and Xaden are concerned.

His motivations appear to hinge on keeping Navarre stable and dominant in the larger geopolitical arena. However, he’s not always honest or transparent, and his presence often brings more political friction than peace.

Role in the Empyrean Series

In Onyx Storm, Halden serves as both a potential ally and a political foil. His involvement in negotiations, his unexpected arrival at Basgiath, and his proposal to join Violet’s mission to the isle kingdoms mark him as a central player in shaping Navarre’s diplomatic future.

His tension with Xaden culminates in a physical altercation (Xaden literally slams him into a wall for touching Violet), showing that their rivalry is as personal as it is ideological.

Halden’s former romantic involvement with Violet is made clear throughout the book, adding emotional weight to their reunion and highlighting her growth from who she was when she knew him. The contrast between Halden and Xaden is stark, Halden embodies annoyance and politics, while Xaden represents rebellion and raw passion.
